Off to Tanzania!
While there, students will have a chance to build on the humanities and science programs. Students will have a chance to learn more about rift valleys, calderas and reinforce their learning about plate tectonics. Additionally, they will have a chance to understand more about human impact on the environment. Students will also have a chance to extend their learning from the science program about ecosystems. While in Tanzania, students will also have a chance to visit the Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda. It promises to be a life changing experience for students and teachers alike.

Despite not being there, I can fully appreciate what a powerful learning experience this must have been for all those who went, and for those of us who will learn of it through the trip participants.

Honestly, when I reflect back on my elementary and middle school education, I can?t recall most of the curriculum or even the last names of some of my friends, but I remember every single one of our school trips, including a petting zoo in grade 2 (I recall being disgusted by the farmer who milked a sheep and drank the milk right away ?okay, I digress?.my point is ?I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand.? ?Confucius

Through the tears, the joys, the laughter and the pain, I am moved by what a powerful learning experience this must have been and the images you all saw. I am sure the lessons learnt will stay with them for a lifetime.

Thank you (and the students) for sharing it with us!
